Thirsk’s Intrepid Explorer reaches Durban...

Jasmine Harrison from Thirsk continues her solo Mini Globe Sail Boat Race and has arrived in Durban, South Africa.

The last 200 miles were a full mix of headwinds, waves in the face, good currents and counter currents, low winds and strong winds, high waves, squalls and far too many cargo ships for comfort.

Much of the time the boat was fully heeled over and it was a very bumpy ride.

Jasmine crossed the finish line just before 2pm local time (12 noon UTC) and radioed for permission to enter the channel. Once she received that clearance she was able to sail rather than motor.
